Release notes

Galactic Mandate Linux v07 is the current release. It includes the signed v07 APT suite, desktop +gm107, a direct v07 installer ISO, and a direct upgrade path for existing GM Linux installations.

v07

v07 is the current Galactic Mandate Linux release, with a signed v07 APT suite, migration package 107.0.0-1, desktop package 10.10.2-1ubuntu4.1+gm107, and a direct AMD64 installer ISO.

  • Direct signed upgrade path: existing Galactic Mandate Linux installations can run sudo gm-upgrade v07.
  • Direct v07 installer: galactic-mandate-linux-v07.iso installs the current release without an older ISO.
  • Complete NF application collection: launcher, Control Center, NF Files, NF Terminal, Notepad, Media Player, Web Browser, Tube View, File Map, Space Explorer, eDEX Cockpit, Search, Sticky Notes, Task Manager, utilities, tour, and themed shortcuts.
  • Consistent themed desktop context menus provide Home, Places, NF Files, NF Terminal, File Map, Space Explorer, eDEX Cockpit, Control Center, and current-book actions.
  • Updated behavior across Files, Terminal, Task Manager, Search, Sticky Notes, Notepad, File Map, Space Explorer, and the Galactic Mandate launcher.
  • Single themed installer shortcut available from both the live desktop and application menu.
  • Verified boot paths: legacy BIOS, UEFI, and Safe Graphics.

Superseded maintenance release

v06 · desktop +gm106

v06 carried the +gm106 maintenance revision, package-owned themed desktop icon renderer, protected Galactic Mandate packages, persistent pinned taskbar applications, improved defaults, and manual signed update checking. It is superseded by v07.

v02 Birthday Edition

v02 was the previous boot-media compatibility release with hybrid BIOS/UEFI construction and desktop +gm102. Its ISO, filename, and checksums are historical; new installations should use the direct v07 image.

Introduced the installer-enabled Birthday Edition and expanded the coordinated desktop, applications, themes, alerts, Control Center, AI tools, signed update channel, and visual effects.
