Release history and archived information for Galactic Mandate Linux. v01 Birthday Edition is the current recommended release.
v01 Birthday Edition
v01 is the current release. It expands the custom desktop, applications, themes, alerts, Control Center, AI tools, signed update channel, and visual effects introduced in earlier versions.
v00 Birthday Edition
Galactic Mandate Linux v00: Birthday Edition followed v.99. It preserved the practical Ubuntu Budgie foundation while expanding the custom FUI desktop, themed applications, live telemetry, alerts, Cockpit, Control Center, AI Tools, and visual effects.
Birthday Edition made the desktop more deliberate, responsive, and alive. Themes behave as separate worlds rather than simple color variations, applications respond consistently to the active theme, and transitions, sound, and full-screen effects give the system a stronger identity.
What Changed Since v.99
- Two new theme worlds: OS13 is a black, white, pale-blue, and amber boardroom-display environment with a working widget system and on-screen keyboard. BB Storm is a separate black-and-navy binary-weather environment.
- Ojoker replaces the former WHTK direction: a warm lunar CRT-interruption display built around purple interruption bars and scanlines.
- Existing themes are more distinct: Biochamber uses node-and-connection graphics, while Echo uses an encoded-signal dot pattern.
- Hyperspace theme travel: theme changes trigger departure, star-streak travel, a flash, and arrival into the next environment.
- A new sound layer: theme changes, alerts, and Celebration effects include science-fiction audio with separate controls.
New and Reworked Applications
- NF Notepad: a theme-aware editor with printing, counts, vertical tabs, and familiar editing commands.
- NF Browser: a themed Firefox-based browser surface with compact bookmarks and fullscreen support.
- NF Media Player: a theme-aware player with drag-and-drop and folder scanning.
- Celebration: launches short full-screen birthday, sports, and other celebratory effects.
- Space Explorer: practical folder navigation, keyboard selection, file inspection, and File Map.
- Dedicated web apps: CDcase and Knoll Color desktop shortcuts.
