Lon Varnadore

Tell our readers a bit about yourself?

I am a goofy, nerdy guy who loves to sit and wonder about the world. Also I’m an avid D&D player and DM.

Briefly describe your writing day:

My writing day is waking up, cramming some words on paper, then taking a break to try and go workout. Then, get back, edit or more exploratory writing if I am working on something new.\

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I try to work on more than one WIP at a time. It helps me from being bored.

Do you have a secret talent readers would be surprised by?

I don’t know if they would think a large amount of my brain has random facts, or knowing the history of The most famous role playing game, or not.

In your view, who are the best science fiction writers?

There are MANY. Old school, Bradbury, Asimov and Clarke. Then there is Harlan Ellison. Newer ones are to numerous to really list all of them.

What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Stephen King’s On Writing.

What was your hardest scene to write?

The end of my very first novel, trying to get an ending that felt right.

How do you see the future of science fiction literature? Will science fiction maintain its independence or intertwine with other literary genres?

There are already those in Lit Fic who try their hand at using sci-fi as a new kind of vehicle for their novels. Sometimes they are ok. Other times, not so much. But, Sci-Fi will always have its independence.

Is writing your full-time job?

I wish, but no. I am still a part time writer. Though I am trying to gear up for more full time writing.

How long have you been writing?

As a hobby, since I was ten or twelve. As a serious pursuit, about eight years.

When can the readers expect your next book?

I am hoping to drop my latest WIP in March.

Tell us about your latest release?

I have started work on a Raypunk series. Raypunk is a throwback to the older sci-fi adventure stories with rayguns and rockets and the like. I am working on a series called the Known World Series. Each story will have its own arc, yet there is some interconnection between the different characters that will span several stories. Working on three novellas as of right now. After that, there should be some shorts and probably a dozen novels or more.

Last What are you dying to tell me or talk about?

I would love to tell you that you are a great writer and that I hope to see more of your stories come out as well. And, hoping that you and I have continued success.
